Looking for your next great oyster pairing? Virginia does a lot of things right, but two of our best features are our beers and our oysters. We are home to dozens of amazing breweries and a ton of awesome oyster farms, including our own. As you’re getting for the Super Bowl, we thought it’d be a good idea to talk about some of our favorite beers and how they pair with our oysters.
Our Oyster Pairing Selections
Ardent Pilsner
The Ardent Pilsner is an absolutely delicious and session-able beer perfect for your next oyster roast or an amazing Super Bowl party. It’s a golden straw, clear pilsner with a classic lager aroma. Made with 100% Hallertauer Mittlefruh noble hops, it has a malty sweetness with a fruity body. It’s crisp and dry with a creamy head that will coat your taste buds. It goes with White Stone Oysters for the perfect oyster pairing, the bright fruit flavors compliment our vegetal umami oysters topped with a mignonette of your choice and the bubbly pilsner brings even more life out of our oyster’s flavors.
Devil’s Backbone 8pt. IPA
Devil’s Backbone 8pt. IPA has become a staple in many beer lovers’ fridges and for good reason. It’s a deliciously bitter and refreshing India pale ale made with Simcoe, Centennial, Comment, Amarillo, and Citra hops. With hints of vanilla and fruit, it plays off a White Stone Oyster exceedingly well. We recommend it with grilled oysters or oysters Rockefeller.
Commonwealth Brewing Co. Juicy Beauregarde
A sour and fruity pop of color, the Commonwealth Brewing Co. Juicy Beauregarde is a Gose-style ale with flavors of blueberry, blackberry, and cheesecake. It’s a combination of sweet fruit and sour Gose stylings making it a great mix of White Stone Oysters that have been steamed and combined with your favorite hot sauce.
2 Silos Brewing Co. Citralicious American IPA
Brewed with Citra and Mosaic hops, this juicy American IPA brings a pop of flavor to the drinker with every sip. It’s perfect for chasing down any kind of cooked oyster, but we love it with these fried buffalo oysters or a delicious fried oyster po’boy. The spicy topping goes great with the tangerine puree and tropical flavors of this delicious IPA hailing from Northern Virginia.
No matter which you choose, rest assured that there is no better choice than White Stone Oysters and a refreshing Virginia beer for your Super Bowl party. For best results from your oyster pairing, get an assortment of each and try your hand at making a few of the recipes found on our site.
